The Mirachem Story

Mirachem Corporation was founded in 1978 with the mission to manufacture and market water-based cleaning products that clean equal to or better than traditional, hazardous chemistries, while providing cost effectiveness, environmental responsibility, personal safety and material compatibility.

Unlike many chemical companies, Mirachem was established not so much as a business venture, but as the practical extension of a belief that cleaning should not have to be dangerous, and cleaning products did not have to be “nasty” to be effective.

Mirachem’s founder, James G. Edwards, having spent many years working with solvents and harsh cleaning chemicals, was one of the millions of individuals who endured personal health issues as a result of his exposure to hazardous chemistries. Conceiving the notion that there must be a safer alternative to these traditional cleaning products, Edwards began to question the chemical industry on why such alternatives were not being made available to workers. Sadly, he discovered that there was no driving force – neither from the chemical manufacturers, industry, the labor force, nor government – to prompt change in the marketplace and demand more and better options.

In an age where one lifetime had seen technological advances that took people from the horse and buggy to man’s first steps on the moon, industry was prepared to accept that the same chemistries used for decades were the best that could be expected in cleaning technology.

Edwards set out to prove that a safe alternative in cleaning technology could be developed. Over two decades later, Mirachem Corporation is proof that the guiding principle of “Nothing bad in, nothing bad out.” is not only viable, but one that makes a lot of sense to those who use cleaning products.

Times do change, and we are all becoming more aware of the risks and challenges we face. Industry expects better performance and increased efficiency from the products they buy, workers are demanding healthier and safer workplaces, government is mandating responsibility and accountability, and everyone is giving a little more thought to the planet we share.

Today, Mirachem provides a number of products based on its' original technologies. We’re also holding true to our original founding purpose of providing better, safer technologies. By taking advantage of the latest developments in chemical science, Mirachem constantly works to provide not only improvements to our core Mirachem products, but also deliver new technologies designed to address the current performance and safety needs of a maturing world.
